3 steps to be happy / find/ create happiness during challenging times in your life

Our happiness is intimately tied to the state of our mind and soul. We strive to be happy and positive in our lives in order to fully appreciate them. But life does not always go as planned. Several ups and downs continue to enter our lives, but we must return to our lives with utmost confidence and enjoyment.

When we confront terrible obstacles in life, we often lose our perspective and give up on life’s joy. We feel empty, and sadness comes in different shapes and sizes. But there is always that glimmer of optimism that helps us get back to our normal lives. That glimmer of hope might manifest itself in a variety of ways. It can come from job, a person, or within.

Here are 3 steps that can bring back the happiness during the challenging times in your life –

  • Divert your attention towards the positives of life and stay grateful.

Whatever the cause of this terrible period in your life, I know it’s difficult!! There is always something in our lives that might motivate us! So, take a deep breath, recall the good things in your life, and show thanks for everything!!

  • Hop onto your favourite hobby –

Do something that brings you inner calm and happiness, such as listening to music or reading a book. These jobs might be of any length or nature. Some people find peace and contentment by travelling, while others find it by working extra hours at work. Do it no matter what! This is how you re-enter the world.

  • Spending time with loved ones

We all have friends or family members who know us from the inside out, who understand and relate to us. These are the folks with whom you can share your grief. Talking to these people can make you feel lighter and more easily let go of the bad moments, as these people will also know how to get you back to feeling full in life.

Some of the challenging times in our lives are –

Heartache and Love Failure

“Expectations hurt” is one of the well-known testimonies that have been proven correct! It hurts a lot, and we lose the will to go on with our lives when this happens. But that’s perfectly OK! Everyone should take their time dealing with any type of heartbreak.

But what is the best way to handle your heartache?

  • Do not act normal –

Because you, of course, are not. So, try not to be too hard on yourself and act normally. Allow the emotions to flow, take a pause, and lament the loss. You are allowing the pain to come out of your heart while you moan or talk about the loss.

  • Do not repeat –

Every heartbreak teaches us something. So, never make the same mistake twice. You must forgive yourself for your heartbreak, but you must not forget.

Homesickness and loneliness

There are times when you must be away from your family and friends for business or educational reasons, or when you live with individuals who do not connect with you. Such circumstances pose a difficulty in your life. It’s common to feel lonely during those moments. But, in order to overcome that emotion and rediscover happiness, start doing something you enjoy. It can be anything that brings you joy. When you start feeling joyful for a while, you tend to look for more of the same. This increases your time spent doing things that make you happy, allowing you to recover from homesickness or loneliness.

 Grief/Failure –

Losing a loved one permanently, or failing to realise some of your dreams, can break you from within and shake you to your core. Feeling lost and useless are common emotions that anybody experiences at the time. But no sensation lasts forever, thus one must try to overcome it by not giving up on the cause of the failure. Spend time with loved ones and engage in lively and vibrant outings with friends to overcome such sentiments, spend lone quality time and indulge in your hobbies to feel light and enjoy your own company. Such exercises will restore your confidence and bravery to tackle life with a positive attitude and a strong spirit.

Overall, one must connect to anyone and everything around them in order to tackle difficult times in good spirits.
