#MeToo: Power, Politics & P***y  Start-Ups Page

Video Script

It only takes one dissatisfied customer to shift the loyalties of an entire community. Take for example, a start-up, family-run pizza establishment in the center of a hometown community.  One disparaging remark at the local grocery store or a Sunday worship service could cause an entire market of consumers to retreat. A movement by a few or by many can significantly impact a business and its economic success. Start-up organizations should be aware of political and social movements and also be equipped to address the reasons these movements form. They should learn how to navigate as invested, concerned, and actionable players. Start-ups have the opportunity to face the places and times that women have been #muted. They have the opportunity to listen. This experience first induces internal healing and progresses toward connecting with others on a level with what this movement embodies.

Intro

#BeautifullyFinallyBroken for Start-Ups is part of VLN’s Original Fearless Conversations Series:

a judgement-free multi-media exploration of topics( typically unspoken); designed to afford deeper reflection, healing, mindfulness, and empathy.

#MeToo – Power, Politics & P***y, Start-up companies are trying to establish a presence in their business that is trustworthy and inviting.  One of the most crucial elements of a thriving organization is building the support and belief that the organization has the best interest of not only its customers but its employees and other stakeholders. An allegation of sexual harassment or assault by a supervisor to a subordinate is not merely an employee relations issue to be solved by Human Resources.  It is a matter that must be addressed whole-heartedly with a sincere attempt to understand the underlying cause and to take actionable steps to address concerns.  These types of issues become #movements.  #Movements can drive a business into the ground or skyrocket it as a pioneer in their industry to be the first to take a stand. Learn why this fearless experience is essential to your start-up business. This experience is about exploring how women have spent a lifetime being demeaned to various degrees, and  about providing a voice to help heal those who have been harassed and assaulted.

#MeToo: Power, Politics & P***y Scaler Page

Video Script

It’s great to be a high-net-worth company, full of potential, and reveling in the success of your accomplishments. That’s what you deserve to have and to do! But it’s also a good idea to remain aware of what’s going on in the world around you while you honor your success.  A single allegation of sexual harassment or sexual assault by a supervisor to a subordinate is not merely an employee relations issue to be solved by Human Resources. Learn why this fearless experience is essential to your organization.

#MeToo – Power, Politics & P***y, pushes your organizational culture to remain aware of societal and pollical trends, changes, and movements.  The culture has to be able to withstand those movements that adversely affect the company or to join in on those that are a worthwhile cause and could have a positive impact on the company’s operations. The #MeToo movement, which focuses on sexual harassment primarily towards women, is a powerful movement that is gaining continual momentum.  It will inevitably lead organizations to have deeper conversations about how women of color have been left out of the conversation despite being the founders of the movement. This could translate into what it means to have power.  These types of observations are critical for scaling organizations to get a handle on.  Not only should scaling organizations address the movement(s), but VLN shares this experience to encourage companies proactively understanding the power of one movement to ignite others. As an enterprise begins to understand more, they should address issues professionally, whole-heartedly and with an actionable plan to make a positive difference for the community and individuals that they impact.

You are a large, leading, and powerful organization. The face of leadership has changed. Iconic leaders are being disposed daily due to allegations that now unearth behaviors that went on for decades. Leaders are often afraid to navigate in this new era. Take the time to learn more now so that you are not only aware of the movements that affect your business, but also so that you are prepared to take actionable measures to address the issues that affect your teams, your success and your future.

#MeToo – Power, Politics & P***y, reminds leading corporations that they have a vested interest in the consumers around them and the employees they are expected to protect.  Movements such as #MeToo have a profound impact on businesses as they demand social justice and require organizations to confront misbehavior.  Large companies know that failure to respond to allegations, claims, or situations can lead to protests, boycotts, walk-outs, legal suits, and more.  Most impactful, failure to appropriately address these types of matters can result in depressed, unmotivated, abused, neglected and harmed employees – which is detrimental to all organizations.  Unintentional and inappropriate responsive comments have explosive ramifications. This new movement is an opportunity for male and female visionary leaders who are ready to make changes that benefit employees at the lowest and highest levels of the organizational hierarchy who continue to face harassment. This fearless experience is designed to help leaders leverage this movement in order to create a new era. It also shields leaders from falling peril to the fate of those who have basked in the limelight and success of large organizations for decades, only to be dethroned by the fearless allegations of sexual assault victims.  Society has quickly embraced the voice of the masses.  This generation of ‘silencing’ some while empowering others can be confusing, yet it all serves its purpose and is intended to bring awareness.  Social movements that affect businesses have the power to skyrocket an organization into the spotlight for their brave works in addressing current social and political matters, or they can crush an organization’s dreams of being a global leader.  This experience is to help leading corporations grasp the former rather than the latter.

#Reparations: Redemption, Remuneration & Restoration Start-Ups Page

Video Script

It may be hard to imagine why a conversation about reparations would impact an entrepreneur’s small or start-up business.  After all, reparations are mostly about the government making amends with groups of people that it has wronged, disenfranchised, or failed to repay. So why is this a conversation for start-up businesses important? It is a conversation that particularly relates to people who have ancestors who were slaves. It also points out a path for small start-ups to tread toward deep healing as the company understands more about transitioning from being owned to owning. Learn how start-up businesses impact economic growth and stability while contributing to the solution for many social injustices.

#Reparations: Redemption, Remuneration & Restoration, demonstrates the positive financial influence a start-up company can have on decades of improprieties caused by much larger entities. Without deep healing and deliberate countermeasures, it may seem impossible to catch up to peers who have a different legacy. Students who graduate with a business degree are eager to launch their careers.  They often dive headfirst into large corporate arenas.  Some are fortunate enough to launch their own company. This experience is about learning how to transition from being a ‘part’ of an institution (or big business) when you’ve never actually been ‘in’ big business. It is almost ingrained in particular DNA that people of color are only good enough to be merely ‘a part’ of something, but not ever enough to be the whole. This still impacts persons of color worldwide. VLN offers an experience to help start-ups navigate with this legacy while impacting them spiritually, economically, professionally, and morally. Understanding more about the significant role your business can take in helping to right ‘the wrongs,’ through employment, recruitment, fair-pay, support, and other measures is an integral part of proving to your consumers that you seek to be a solution, regardless of your connection with the cause of the problem.  Taking a proactive step to acknowledge the need for reparations does not over-commit an organization. Instead, it highlights the honorable actions of an organization willing to use its influence to take a stand. Its excellent business acumen and shows even greater moral character. It is the epitome of empathy and respect as a complete response to the call to action.

Why does a scaling organization need to have a conversation about reparations? After all, reparations are mostly about the government making amends with groups of people that it has wronged, disenfranchised, or failed to repay. You’ve done an excellent job achieving your success. Learn why it is vital for scaling companies to share their economic growth and stability by contributing to the solution for many social injustices. Let the world know that climbing to the top wasn’t a job that you could have done alone. Help to restore the many shoulders on which growing companies stand as they journey toward success and leadership.

#Reparations: Redemption, Remuneration & Restoration, is genuinely a fearless experience for many organizations.  It may be challenging to understand the need for a conversation that is so politically, socially, and even racially charged.  Here’s the bottom line…one of the best ways to leverage your success is to join forces with your consumer base and to let them know that you value their buying power. This century is charged with a failed attempt to fully understand the impact that reparations could have on business, economics, social justice, financial freedom and more.  In turn, many companies suffer because they have not realized the influence that helping to restore buying power and economic stability would provide.  The conversation is not about your company owing anyone anything.  It’s about your company taking a moment to listen to the past, to join in on the conversation, and to stand as a solution to eliminate future improprieties. VLN invites you to be fearless and experience a wave of restoration.

Most will agree that a conversation about reparations can be politically, socially, and even racially charged.  So, why would we address this in the business arena? It’s simple. It matters. One of the best ways to leverage your success is to join forces with your consumer base and to let them know that you value their buying power. Leading organizations must continue to pioneer and pave the way to even greater triumphs.  Seeking after the most difficult conversations and situations is what will set exceptional leaders apart from those who aspire to be greater.

#Reparations: Redemption, Remuneration & Restoration, helps leading organizations fearlessly explore their role in restoring financial well-being to the communities that support them the most. The impact that reparations have on business, economics, social justice, and financial freedom is far beyond what most organizations have possibly considered.  Even for those companies that are aware, they have yet to exert an effort to turn the tide toward helping to redeem society’s past mistakes. Helping to restore buying power on one end and vowing to operate in fair and equitable hiring and recruitment practices are just the initial steps. The conversation is not about your company owing anyone anything.  It’s about your company taking a moment to listen to the past, to join in on the conversation, and to stand as a solution to eliminate future improprieties. VLN invites you to be fearless and experience a wave of restoration.

How much of your unique-self did it take to establish your start-up business? Perhaps your drive, socio-economic background, education, innate talents, or even your passion were all factors in your successful launch. The intricacies in your identity are what made your vision possible to accomplish by only you.  How much more could you pour into your dream if you were able to see the unique identity of everyone else around you? This series helps entrepreneurs understand intersectionality, individual identities, and their importance.

Conversations about Identities, and Intersectionality helps start-up organizations understand the importance of individual contributions.  It reaches beyond physical identifiers to incorporate the spiritual, mental, social, cultural and dozens of other strands that make each individual uniquely qualified to grow your organization.  Today’s business world undoubtedly has an excellent understanding of diversity.  However, many organizations do not have meaningful conversations about identity strands such as self-identified race, gender or sexuality. Understanding why these characteristics are essential and how communication about perceptions can affect the future of your business is imperative.

Scaling organizations are a prime target as they operate in high-net-worth, while still learning to address movements, pain points, changes in the law, and compliance requirements.  The solution for ensuring that scaling companies maintain their success is to make sure the organization does not shy away from or fear necessary conversations.

Conversations about Identities and Intersectionality There shouldn’t be anything scary about diversity, inclusion, or identity discussions.  In fact, learning to embrace the value that unique identities bring to your organization plays a vital role in the continued growth of any enterprise. You show a fearlessness when you empower your team and organization to share their full potential. That potential is derived from the sum total of their life’s experiences, including those made by choice and those with which they were gifted. Without assuming what a team has to offer, a scaling organization can accomplish so much more just by making each individual feel welcomed, appreciated, irreplaceable and uniquely qualified to help the company succeed. VLN teaches scalers to embrace conversations around these strands of identity that contribute to their success.

The Greenhouse Approach to Developing Leaders from Within Start-Ups Page

Video Script

Start-up businesses require a distinct type of support as they build connections with their products and services to deliver a wholly-nurtured business construct to their customers.  The greenhouse effect for start-ups is about creating a full-scale nurturance experience amidst the demands of overwhelm. Through this nurture and harnessed internal progress, start-ups can heal from past microaggressions and blossom into larger organizations complete with developed leaders, products, service delivery and more. This fearless experience shares the significant impact that developing a leader from within can have on start-up success.

The Greenhouse Approach to Developing Leaders From Within,

Unlike scaling organizations and leading enterprises, start-up companies do not typically share the fearless experience of developing leaders from within.  The reason is that start-ups are usually busy grinding, trying to make their mark in their field.  This alternative focus renders them unwilling or unable to develop their leadership skills, assess their weaknesses, or to focus on their inner well-being. The inability to harness these things that nurture an organization drives the company to require additional resources and support to sustain its momentum. Entrepreneurs and other talent within start-ups have most typically worked in the corporate arena before venturing to launch a new business.  In their previous experience, they may not have been given the opportunity or resources needed to develop and reach their fullest potential. Minimizing their development may have also led to the talent not realizing that they were worthy of development. Feeling unworthy can make them feel overly vulnerable as they begin to identify all of the areas that they need training and support. The greenhouse approach to developing leaders from within helps start-ups and talent within them to reach their potential, realize their worth, and to create a team that allows them to develop from within their small team of supporters.

The Greenhouse Approach to Developing Leaders from Within: Scaler Page

Video Script

Once an organization has reached a certain potential, such as with a scaling company, its customers should be completely comfortable with the products, services, and leadership that define the company.  Stakeholders are not usually willing to follow or to trust the authenticity of what has been developed unless there is some level of transparency and clearly developed leadership. This fearless experience to developing leaders from within focusses on a greenhouse approach to making sure the end product is not only visible but in excellent condition to share with the rest of the world. That includes the company’s leadership.

The Greenhouse Approach to Developing Leaders From Within addresses the occasional loss of momentum that scaling organizations endure due to lack of development. The process to grow and develop the company holistically includes developing leadership.  Focusing more clearly on the ability of the leaders in the organization to absorb and nurture specific resources such as awareness, commitment, emotional intelligence, and more allows scaling organizations to maintain their prolific status. There are dozens of resources and types of internal energy that can be added to the daily development of leaders and infused into the operation. Essentially, this type of nurture helps leaders develop their full selves? VLN shares this experience to help scaling companies avoid the pitfalls that older and larger companies are not able to as quickly address, their developing and often-overlooked talent

Large, leading organizations understand the value of working smarter and not harder.  This experience provides a solution to working smarter to obtain better results for organizations and their leaders.  When we think about the greenhouse effect, we look at several factors that lead to successful growth. There are elements of transparency, shielding plants, and crops from external dangers, control, quality, and even the length of time that you can devote to the growth of the product. Use this experience to learn more about how this process also works to develop leaders from within.

The Greenhouse Approach to Developing Leaders From Within reinforces the position that leading organizations have established in their business.  These organizations and leaders have already figured out ways to operate and to yield great results.  The benefit of exploring a greenhouse approach is to offer more control over the process that it takes to produce the results.  That control is not tied to one product or service.  It touches the internal talent, skills, resources, and abilities that each individual contributes to the success of the company.  Imagine if each individual who nurtures the products were also able to continue to nurture and develop their own unique talents and skills as they helped the company to grow.  Equally important, it is essential that companies seek out the potentially overlooked talent to ensure that those individuals are given the opportunity and nurture to develop as well. Developing leaders is just as important as developing the products.  This is possible when leaders recognize, absorb, and control other aspects of their service that make them essential to the company’s success.  These factors that are within the individuals often go untapped. VLN offers this experience as a solution.

MLK: Lessons on Legacy, Leadership, and Overcoming Adversity: One of your most significant responsibilities as a leader is to understand the realm in which you exist.  As a leader, the world looks upon your success and how you accomplished it as something to ascertain. They expect you to have fought the battles, overcome the challenges, and pushed through to realize a vision.  They look for your guidance on what to do when the trials come and how to handle the adversities that could cost them all of their hard work.  Perhaps for you, some aspects of your success are easy to maintain, such as generating profits, providing exceptional service or delivering innovative products. The harder part of marinating your success, persona and leadership status is in making sure you are establishing deep connections, remembering to be mindful and empathetic as you lead the race. Do you remain humble while focused on your own goals?  Do you remember to pull others up along with you as you continue to grow?  Have you given recognition to the unsung heroes who helped you to gain your success?  Is there hidden potential in the people and systems around you into which you have yet to tap?

It’s time to let the world know how awesome you are. Everything about who you are as a business is important. Equally important is everything about the employees who contribute to the business’ success, even their sexual identity. It’s a part of what makes them perfect for anything they pour their heart into.  This includes how individuality helps the fundamental foundation of a business. Historically, the LGBTQ+ community has had to put many of their dreams on the back burner in order to feel like they fit in with what small or start-up companies were willing to embrace. VLN promotes the unique identity of everyone, and taps into the conversations that help entrepreneurs and small companies understand diversity and inclusion and the value that the LGBTQ+ community has built.

Conversations about LGBTQ+ sounds an alarm that individuals who are confident about their sexuality are just as confident about the value they bring to business and work-related relationships. These conversations highlight the strand that makes each individual uniquely qualified to help build your business.  Today’s business world undoubtedly has an excellent understanding of diversity.  However, many organizations do not have meaningful conversations about sexuality and the LGBTQ+ community. This experience helps start-ups understand more about the impact of buying power and how it can be spread out among various influential communities. The conversation is infused with diversity, inclusion, intersectionality, and more. But most targeted, is the fearless approach to the biases about LGBTQ+ that many employees and consumers face.

There are dozens of ways to build a respectable, thriving and inclusive organization.  Regulatory compliance, corporate culture, and even poor recruitment strategies can all compromise a company’s success. These potential mishaps should inspire scaling companies to lead conversations about how to approach and avoid the seeming negativity that could ignite. Scaling organizations are a prime target as they operate in high-net-worth, while still learning to address movements, pain points, changes in the law, and compliance requirements.  The solution for ensuring that scaling companies maintain their success is to make sure the organization does not fear one of the most prevailing subjects of today, sexuality in the workplace and the impact of the LGBTQ+ community.

Conversations about LGBTQ+, Scaling companies must be fearless in their approach to empowerment and embracing full potential. That potential may include the way employees view their value and respectability within an organization.  Customers, consumers, employees and other stakeholders don’t just expect leadership as it relates to diversity and inclusiveness.  They demand it.  It is the duty of a company to ignite meaningful conversations about individuality and impact. It is the duty to identify and provide safe spaces for those who have traditionally been cast aside in the workplace. Organizations that recognize they are fueled by the rich, vibrant of encouraging all of their team members to bring the best of their ideas and selves to their company VLN teaches scalers to embrace conversations around these strands of identity that contribute to their success.

Big businesses know the value of diversity. After all, there’s no way you could have grown to be so successful without leaning on the talent of those who became dedicated, loyal, and empowered under your leadership. So why is it important to tap into conversations that are so specific to the LGBTQ+ community? It’s simple. These discussions are about making sure your leading organization doesn’t forget that there is an entire community of people not tied to race, gender, culture or even economic status that has helped to sustain your viability.  This community embraces each of the other identifiers and molds them into a unique, vibrant and impactful community.

Conversations about LGBTQ+: In order to recognize the impact that the LGBTQ+ community has on large businesses, you must be able to address confrontation without fear or hesitation.  This may include responding to a reporter at a press conference about an allegation that your company fired an individual for participating in a gay pride parade. It could even include allegations that anyone self-identifying in any of the specific categories is passed up anytime a promotional opportunity becomes available. It’s a little too late to try to explain it all after the fact. VLN chimes in on the conversations that will distinguish you as a global leader who embraces and empowers employees and their total selves. Use your leadership to fearlessly approach and engage in the conversations about the LGBTQ+ community and to stay aware of #movements and in compliance with the laws. Make it your duty to make things better.
