Overcoming Burn Out: A Medical Practitioner’s Take

Burnout it’s not just about being exhausted and working too hard and getting tired. It’s often that the spirit, the passion, the will to do better is just getting beaten out of you. You’re getting to the point where you’re saying take this job and shove it by Johnny’s paycheck plays in the background. You begin to feel hostile and cynical about other people at your workplace. People start changing how they work; rather than trying to do their very best they’re trying to do the

bare minimum. What is the least I need to do and still have the job and get out of

here and get a paycheck? You fall victim to negative self-evaluation. “Maybe I’m not really good at this.” “Maybe I’ve made a mistake; I shouldn’t be here.”

“I’m stuck, what am I going to do in the future.”

Our brains come already designed for happiness. Our brains can regulate chemicals like oxytocin. People who have more oxytocin trust more readily, have increased tendencies towards monogamy, and exhibit more caregiving behavior. If happiness has little to do with having too many resources, then it is an inner state that we have the power to cultivate.

Most widely accepted practices to rid your life of negativity and create your own happiness are better sleep, and meditation.

Our body and mind work in close coordination to keep us safe from any unpleasantness that can affect our mood. Our brain has this fascinating ability to restore and revive itself and hence ensuring our wellbeing. Good health and good mood are two sides of the same coin. The question is what role does sleep play in our wellbeing and eventually our happiness? Even if scientists didn’t do all the research and experimentation on sleep, it would be no secret that a good night sleep does wonders to boost your mood and energy. And for a sound sleep it is essential to have that perfect vibe in your bedroom, and your go to night care routine before you hit the slumber. Maybe you don’t put too much thought into self care, and maybe you don’t even know what a perfect nighttime routine looks like. It can range from the right meditation and skin care routine to creating  the perfect vibe in your bedroom space. Now mind you, it’s not just about self care for mere internal satisfaction but the long term benefits will help you replenish not only your health but also help you sleep better.

Now another important aspect of the burnout issue is how to prevent it from emerging in the first place.

How does a person manage to deal with life and its challenges and still manage to show up at work with a vibrant smile on his face? All the real-life troubles that inhabit our minds can make the working hours feel like an eternity.
