The Biggest Challenges Most People Get Wrong in Order to Be Happy in The Moment

Keywords: being happy every day, why being happy is important, being Happy by yourself.

Happiness predicts health and quality of life but happiness is not something that just happens to you. Everyone has the ability to make tiny changes in their behaviour, environment, and relationships that can lead to a happy life. (1)

Joy, pleasure, contentment, and fulfillment characterize happiness as an emotional state. It is frequently described as involving positive emotions and a sense of fulfillment in life. When most people talk about happiness, they may be referring to how they feel right now, or they may be referring to a broader sense of how they feel about life in general. (2)

  • The Two Important Components of Happiness:
  • Emotional equilibrium: Everyone has positive and negative emotions, feelings, and moods. More pleasant feelings than negative feelings are associated with happiness.
  • Life satisfaction refers to how happy you are with various aspects of your life, such as your relationships, career, accomplishments, and other essential things.
  • How Happiness can be Cultivated:

While some people are born with an innate sense of happiness, there are things you can do to cultivate your own.

  • Pursue Intrinsic Values

Having goals that you are passionately motivated to achieve, especially those that are based on personal growth and communities, might help you be happier. According to research, pursuing intrinsically motivated goals such as acquiring money or status can boost happiness more than pursuing extrinsic goals such as gaining status. (3)

On average, you’re happiest when you’re 33, 55, and 70 years old. Thirty-three because you have the energy and knowledge to follow your interest, 55 because you’ve amassed sufficient assets and authority, and seventy because you’re free of many stressful duties and can reflect on your achievements. (4)

  • Be in The Moment:

According to studies, people tend to over earn because they are so concentrated on collecting stuff that they lose sight of how much fun they are having.

So, instead of mindlessly accumulating to the expense of your own pleasure, focus on practising thankfulness for what you already have and enjoying the process as you go. (5)

  • Negative Thoughts Reframed:

Look for methods to refocus you’re thinking in a more positive way if you find yourself with a pessimistic view or experiencing negativity.

You have complete influence over your happiness, or at least up to 40% if you want to be scientific. Researchers believe that a large part of your happiness is determined by a combination of factors such as your genes, the actions of others, and your life circumstances. (4)

Happiness is a wide concept that has diverse connotations for different people. Rather than viewing happiness as a goal, it may be more beneficial to consider what happiness means to you and then work on small steps that will help you achieve it.
